Fresh Leaf Field to Fiber Indigo Dye Class

Madame Magar’s Blue School is dedicated to the study and art of indigofera: Wild Caroliniana, Sea Island and West Indian suffruticosa.

Students will harvest indigo from Madame Magar’s Blue School indigo fields. Located on John’s Island, a rural sea island amidst a rustic horse farm near charming Charleston,SC.

A in-depth/ hands on class where students will participate in organic fieldwork: growing,harvesting,tending, processing and learn all natural and organic vat making techniques and recipes.

Students will also learn about South Carolina’s rich yet tangled indigo history on the former indigo plantation site.

Class includes:

All supplies and Madame Magar items for dyeing

Local and Seasonal lunches

Madame Magar pop up shop and Cocktail party
